i am so bitter

  • Jan. 5th, 2009 at 2:13 PM
bizniss time

Good grief. It's not even 2:00 and I don't think this day could get any more... uh... disappointing.

I wanted to wake up early, but I didn't set my alarm properly.

I wanted to go out early and do some W-R-I-T-I-N-G but because of said alarm clock issues, I didn't have the time. Of course, I got dressed and even put on makeup (on a MONDAY, I know!) before I figured this out.

I decided, on a whim, and thanks to this addiiicccttive community, that I need a 2009 planner. NOW. Preferably Moleskine. Large. Jackson doesn't have a Borders, but the Walden in the mall has a little rack. I hurry out the door without lunch to have stop by before my appointment. Aaaaaand they don't have any. Pout.

So I go to the doctor. I'm a good 25 minutes early, which I take as a good thing, since the waits at the Voted #1 OB/GYN In The Tri-County Area can be lengthy... but I'm just settling in to the suspiciously empty waiting room when I find out that the doctor isn't in. They mailed me a reschedule card (to the wrong address) but they can't really explain why the receptionist didn't mention this to me when I called on FRIDAY to confirm.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Ahhhh well. I decided to come to the coffee shop and get some W-R-I-T-I-N-G done instead. Which is a nice treat. Even if I'm not really writing in the traditional sense of the word (don't worry, I'm still on the right track, promise). I am working on my January Playlist, which is A) an easy one and B) a FUN one, since I'm just going off the Top 100 WXPN Songs of 2008, and haven't heard ANY of these songs before. I actually have only heard SIX out of ALL ONE HUNDRED.

6% with it, music-wise. Oy vey. Probably because I spent all last year listening to the Top 100 WXPN Songs of 2007.

I am doomed to be perpetually one year behind. In everything.

But this one is my favorite so far.

Anyway, here's a quick shout out to my favey-fave coffee shop (in Jackson, anyway. Kaya Coffee & Tea Co. still holds my true loyalties...):

The Jackson Coffee Co.

Today, they made me a tasty mint mocha, complimented me on my choice of credit card design, and provided me with this free wireless internet, which blocked Limewire, but otherwise, made this lovely little excursion possible.

Also, I admire their choice of orange and black for their logo. I mean, I'm a Jackson High grad. They are the ugliest school colors of time.... but quite opitmal for creating a strange sense of pride and nostalgia when you encounter the halloween combo post graduation.

And I'm going to have to leave now. I have to go get my blood taken, my iron tested (maybe I can start taking my vitamins again soon!?!??), and also I am starting to feel like a crazy lady, wearing these silly headphones and posing for my little iCam... I should leave before anyone has the chance to permanently imprint my face, labelling it as The Face of A Crazy To-Be-Avoided-Blogger-Lady.

Hasta la vista!

Tho it seems a little strange, I run into a lot of people that had/have orange and black high school colors.

Orange and black were my school colors also. Thankfully, it wasn't until after I graduated that the school decided to paint the hallway walls orange and the lockers black, which sent me into sensory overload the first time I saw it.

Also, glad you still have proper coffee allegiance.

I think branding a local business with the colors of the local high school is a pretty smart business move. Lots of people round here probably have the same feelings toward the old black and orange.

And your school sounds frightening. We used to have orange and black stripes running all over the school, and orange doors, but they did a big remodel and everything ended up Beige. Which, in my opinion, was a step in the wrong direction. I think they lowered the ceilings too, so the hallways feel very mental-hospital-ish. Or maybe I just got used to the open, wire-exposed, dangling lightbulbs look of the hallways when I was there?

For the record, I was physically unable to call anything other than Kaya my favorite. I haven't even been there in like, a year. But I still have a full stamp card, and I hold onto it, with the hopes that one day, I will return.

The last time I was in my high school a lot of things had turned bright orange. Annoying, bright orange.

People frommy district ain't bright enough to come up with anything like the m&m's thing. But, I think one of my friends from Escanaba had that.

One of school's that I worked at had orange and black for their school colors.. I thought they were great school colors. It made pride day so easy. I found myself fingering a bright orange sweater just yesterday before I remembered I didn't need to buy orange anymore (and hadn't needed to for 15 years. Some alligiances die hard I guess.) Just as well, though, since not everyone looks great in bright orange (raises hand slowly.)

i know, i keep trying to get my sisters to buy orange things when we shop... but they just go "uhhhh orange is ugly," and i'm like "but it's for school spirit!" and they say "we don't have any school spirit"

i wasn't really school spirity either, but i had a couple orange things. i loved how homecoming and halloween were always so close!

Kate Nash is awesome. And pretty. And pretty awesome. And that album TOTALLY come out in 07. Take that, WXPN, whatever you even are.

you put pumpkin soup on a mix for me! :-)

wxpn was my favorite radio station when i was a small child. they do a top 10 albums of the year on New Years Eve, and actually play the whole album on the radio, which is cool.

but the top 100 songs are listener voted. and they are a bit wonky. there is definitely a song on there that i was like "hey, didn't i listen to this song because it was on the list LAST year?"

Check out this Kate Nash song, it's my favorite:

Also, this cover is good and if I remember, this song was actually on the list, or another song by this band, I looked at the list briefly.

Looking at the list again, actually, this is probably the best top songs of the year list I've seen (other than the one I made, which, I'm obvs quite partial to). Mainly because it seems like they didn't go out of their way to include songs I've never heard of, which is more than I can say for most media outlets. Good work, guys!

Oh, Jackson.

Last time I was there, it was to hang out with you. Which was awesome. Horray for Starbucks.

I hope we get to hang again sometime in the not to distant future.
